PRSA Georgia President Featured in This Month's Tactics - Ensuring A Smooth Transition

PRSA Georgia president, Stephen M. Brown, APR, is featured in this month’s PR Tactics, a publication of PRSA National. He worked in conjunction with the PR committee to create a timely piece about overcoming the stereotypes encircling the Millennial generation and instead examining what seems to be indicative of a larger, systemic problem. Stephen offers ideas for smoothing the transition and incorporating Millennials into the public relations work environment. Please read, share, like and engage on your digital channels.

Why has the idea of "millennials in the workplace” become a phrase weighted with such stereotypes and a general foreboding? Is it simply easier to perpetuate a label than to uncover common truths? Since we are experts in communications, I refuse to believe we’re that lazy. Every generation brings about change — in the workplace and beyond — and yet we continue to thrive. PR professionals have the capacity to bridge the gap between generations within our organizations, especially given that the primary issues seem to be around communication, motivation and mutual understanding. That’s standard practice for us, in my book.
