Georgia president, Stephen M. Brown, APR, is featured in this month’s
PR Tactics, a publication of PRSA National. He worked in conjunction
with the PR committee to create
a timely piece about overcoming the stereotypes encircling the
Millennial generation and instead examining what seems to be indicative of a larger, systemic problem. Stephen offers ideas for smoothing the transition and incorporating Millennials into the public relations work environment.

has the idea of "millennials in the workplace” become a phrase weighted
with such stereotypes and a general
foreboding? Is it simply easier to perpetuate a label than to uncover
common truths? Since we are experts in communications, I refuse to
believe we’re that lazy. Every generation brings about change — in the
workplace and beyond — and yet we continue to thrive.
PR professionals have the capacity to bridge the gap between
generations within our organizations, especially given that the primary
issues seem to be around communication, motivation and mutual
understanding. That’s standard practice for us, in my book.
