PRSA GEORGIA PINS NEW APR DURING JANUARY MONTHLY MEETING
The Georgia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (prsageorgia.org) pinned one member with the Accredited in Public Relations (APR) credential at the January Monthly meeting. Liza Mulkowsky was recognized for successfully completing the rigorous APR certification program.
The APR certification program is administered by the Universal Accreditation Board (UAB), a consortium of 10 leading industry organizations including PRSA. It recognizes practitioners who have mastered the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to develop and deliver strategic communications.
Liza Mulkowsky, APR, has more than 15 years of experience leading communication programs for Turner Broadcasting System, Delta Air Lines, Balfour Beatty, and Genuine Parts Company. Mulkowsky currently serves as director of corporate communications and change management for Genuine Parts Company’s U.S. Automotive Parts Group, where she oversees the communication and change management function for more than 60 NAPA AUTO PARTS distribution centers and more than 6,000 company-owned and independently-owned retail stores. She earned a bachelor’s of business administration (BBA) in communications and marketing from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, and she is a member of Executive Women of Emory, the Organizational Change Alliance, and the Public Relations Society of America.
“Obtaining my APR has always been a professional goal,” said Mulkowsky. “Now that I’m responsible for training and developing PR professionals, it’s become even more important to lead by example and become accredited. The APR’s strategic framework has elevated my department’s business contributions.”
PRSA Georgia (prsageorgia.org), the second-largest local chapter in the national society, consists of more than 900 professionals throughout Georgia. Its mission is to enhance the profession, provide continuing education and offer networking opportunities for its members. The Chapter hosts regular monthly meetings and seminars, an Annual Conference for professionals and an annual Real World PR collegiate conference day.
The Chapter includes eight Special Interest Groups (Corporate and Employee Communications, Healthcare, Independent Counselors, Leader Board, Nonprofit, Technology, Travel and Tourism, and Young Professionals) that meet at various times.
It also supports eight PRSSA (student society) groups at the following colleges: Berry College (Rome), Columbus State University (Columbus), Georgia College & State University (Milledgeville), Georgia State University (Atlanta), Georgia Southern University (Statesboro), Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw), University of Georgia (Athens), and University of West Georgia (Carrollton).
