Chapter Champion Award

PRSA Georgia's Chapter Champions

This award recognizes PRSA Georgia members who have gone the extra mile in service to the Chapter. The award is presented on a monthly basis, or as appropriate. Eligibility for the award includes all Georgia Chapter members who go above and beyond the call of duty as a Chapter volunteer.

A successful chapter runs on the talents of its volunteers. The Chapter Champion Award recognizes the hard work of our dedicated members. All PRSA Georgia Chapter members who go above and beyond as Chapter volunteers are eligible. The Chapter Champion Award is presented at the Chapter’s monthly luncheon meeting.


Neil Hirsch, APR, is a recipient of the June 2017 Chapter Champion Award for his longtime volunteer work with PRSA Georgia. In his more than 15 years as a member, Neil has served as a member and chair of multiple committees, director and officer on the Board and 2014 Chapter President. Since his presidency, Neil has remained involved, serving as the 2015 International Conference Host Committee Co-Chair, an Assembly Delegate and a co-chair for the recent 2017 Georgia Chapter Annual Conference.

“I will be always be an engaged PRSA member,” he says. “From my time as a PRSSA member during college, to my early years as a professional, my involvement in PRSA has always been rewarding. I’ve been able to learn so much, contribute to our profession along the way, but most importantly, create meaningful relationships that will last a lifetime.”

Neil serves as Director, External Corporate Communications at InterContinental Hotels Group where he leads corporate media relations, executive visibility and corporate reputation for the company’s Americas region spanning more than 3,000 hotels across the U.S, Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean. Prior to joining IHG, he held corporate communications roles at Novelis, Solvay Pharmaceuticals and Ford Motor Company. Neil began his career at Cookerly Public Relations after graduating with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. He received his Accreditation in Public Relations in 2008.

 

Julie Turner Davis is a recipient of the June 2017 Chapter Champion Award for her longtime contributions to the Georgia Chapter. She has been an active member since joining the Chapter in 1986, serving as chair, co-chair and member of numerous committees, as well as the Chapter’s Board of Directors. She served as Chapter President in 2012, and has since continued her involvement by taking on the most recent revision of the Chapter’s bylaws and serving as Assembly Delegate, co-chair of the Georgia Chapter’s marketing and communications committee for the 2015 PRSA International Conference in Atlanta, and co-chair for the Chapter’s 2017 Annual Conference.

“I joined PRSA early in my career as a way to meet and learn from other professionals,” she said. “I have stayed engaged throughout my career because I found that being an active member has helped me continue to grow as a professional, keep up with changes in our ever-evolving industry, and make valuable connections with other communication professionals.”

Julie is currently director – public affairs and communications for Georgia-Pacific’s Packaging & Cellulose businesses. She began her career as an intern with The Citizens and Southern National Bank in Atlanta. Growing her career as the company grew through mergers and acquisitions, she retired from Bank of America as senior vice president and media relations manager. She is a graduate of Georgia Southern and remains engaged with the public relations major as a charter member and current chair of the University’s Public Relations Advisory Board.
