Renae Madison has been named Chapter Champion for March recognizing her impact on the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee. She contributes to the Chapter’s commitment to using a DE&I lens in daily operations and she recently co-led the Diverse Voices Roundtable session that gathered feedback from members, past and present, that will inform leadership and participating committee members about ways to help all members – particularly those not in the majority group – feel welcomed, engaged and valued. Madison also volunteers for the Professional Development Committee and has served on the Real World Committee.
“Being of service to the communities I am connected to has always been important to me,” Madison said. “Volunteering with PRSA Georgia has not only allowed me to add value to the organization but bring the perspective of a local government communicator to the table.”
Madison is the Communications Manager/Public Information Officer for the City of Decatur where she plays an active role in the City’s community engagement efforts and is one of the staff liaisons to the city’s Better Together Advisory Board, which gives residents with an interest and expertise in the areas of equity, inclusion and engagement a chance to assist the city. She also serves as Planning Team lead for the employee leadership academy and co-chair to the City of Decatur’s Employee Equity Team, facilitating difficult conversations within the organization and in the community. Madison holds a bachelor’s in Mass Communications and Psychology from Xavier University in New Orleans and a Master of Arts in Writing and Digital Communication from Agnes Scott College.
