Associate Vice President of Communication & Marketing

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Associate Vice President of Communication & Marketing. The Associate Vice President of Communications & Marketing will develop and advance integrated marketing and communications plans to position the university as a regional and national leader for academic excellence, engagement, educational opportunity, and leadership development. This leader is responsible for developing and directing communications and marketing initiatives, in collaboration with other organizational units and alignment with institutional goals, across a variety of print, online and digital platforms. Supervisory responsibilities include news and communications, web communications, marketing and creative services, photography and multimedia development.

Develop, execute and assess communications and marketing strategies to promote the university’s brand, enhance its reputation, engage stakeholders in the university’s mission, and support institutional enrollment goals.

Lead an effective team of professionals in news and communications, web and digital platforms, marketing and creative services, photography, social media, and multimedia development; collaborate with other campus communicators to ensure consistency of brand integration and accurate and timely messaging.

Provide a high level of support for internal and external communications, including crisis communications plans; cultivate and maintain relationships with key media outlets; monitor and assess news coverage and trends; serve as the university’s media spokesperson as appropriate; develop and provide media training for faculty and staff.

Oversee the budget and services/vendors that support communications and marketing efforts, including media services, web services, advertising services, and freelance/agency services (writers, photographers, designers, marketing consultants, etc.).

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, journalism, or communications discipline is required. Master’s degree preferred.

Demonstrated experience in communications planning, project management and execution, resource allocation, and staff leadership.

High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Associated Press writing style, media monitoring and analytics programs.

Or, a comparable combination of education and experience.

Five or more years of experience and progressive leadership roles in a higher education or related non-profit organizations preferred.

Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) preferred.
