Position #1: Internal and Executive Communications Manager, Search

About this Job:
As a member of the Executive and Internal Communications team, you will be part of a team which produces employee communications and events for Google executives. You will work with members of your internal client team on communications initiatives, projects and programs. You will support the work of the team to create strategic communications campaigns, come up with innovative ways to engage employees that are in tune with Google’s culture, write communications, business update presentations and talking points. You will also collaborate with internal partners as needed across functions (PR, Policy, Legal, HR, Operations, etc.) and geographies.

The Search team uses the power of storytelling to inspire Google and help leaders connect with their teams, while devising creative and fun ways to articulate Google’s values, strategy, and culture.

As an Internal and Executive Communications Manager, you will help Search leaders develop strategic executive and internal communications. You will write compelling messages for leaders, create thoughtful presentations for internal meetings, and find innovative ways to engage employees to build a shared culture. In this role, you will be working across the support team for leaders in partnership with your team.

We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders–and our own employees–about the benefits of Google’s products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. Responsibilities: 

  • Interact with and influence executives, and provide advice that reflects an understanding of their business and leadership/communication style.
  • Build and deliver communications plans that integrate into the wider Ads and Google communications strategy. Take ownership of tactics and outcomes, measuring their impact.
  • Develop, write, and edit communications for executives, including emails and presentations.
  • Create and manage channels to help executives effectively reach their audience, share information, and respond to feedback.
  • Manage internal communications aspects of wider project plans to ensure internal audiences receive clear communications during times of uncertainty and change.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in communications, marketing, or journalism.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience supporting executives on communications strategies.
  • Experience ghostwriting for executives and crafting human-focused stories (e.g., speechwriter, spokesperson, blogger, author, etc.).
  • Experience in video, graphics, or other multimedia.
  • Ability to solicit feedback and incorporate it quickly while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent team player who can meet project deadlines with exceptional attention to detail and lead efforts across disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Position #2: Internal and Executive Communications Manager, Ads Strategy

About this Job:
As the Internal and Executive Communications Manager, Ads Strategy, you will focus on change management communications guiding the Ads product area to adapt a long-term strategy for the organization.

In this role, you will drive internal communications, working with executive leaders, including the Head of Ads and the Head of Ads Strategy and Operations, to create and execute internal communications plans that engage Googlers along the change journey.

To succeed, you will be able to synthesize clear, concise narratives from a multitude of disparate sources, and be adept at keeping multiple projects running, quickly switching tasks as needed to deliver for stakeholders. You will be a trusted adviser to executive leaders, helping them deliver written and spoken communications in a way that resonates and builds trust with their audience.

  • Experience with reactive communications and deciphering complex issues
  • Experience with change management and communicating change

As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We’re looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.

The Google Cloud Internal Corporate Communications team manages the internal perception and reputation of Google Cloud. The Internal Corporate Communications team collaborates with our People Partners (HR), Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) practitioners, Program teams, and executives to create communication strategies that positively impact our culture, promote internal brand identity, and bridge the gap between our work and strategic priorities.

  • Create templates, messaging documents, governance, and process for work-stream leaders to foster collaboration and ongoing effectiveness of communications.
  • Serve as managing editor for multiple employee-related newsletters, including building a year-round content calendar, editing articles, and implementing strategies to boost readership.
  • Serve as site owner for employee-related web sites to include content management and marketing campaigns to boost site visibility.
  • Monitor our people and culture efforts for emerging themes/trends to build resources and content for issues that may need to be addressed to and by Google Cloud leadership.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in internal and executive communications.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience making decisions independently, prioritizing work assignments, managing multiple deadlines, and respecting diverse individuals and cultures.
  • Experience thinking, planning, and executing on multiple projects simultaneously in an organized fashion, while acting as an effective team player who can lead efforts across disciplines.
  • Experience in writing or editing, and working on communication strategy within a medium-to-large sized organization.
  • Experience working on events and projects that require cross-functional collaboration, excellent management skills, including experience building and executing new programs and managing them to scale.
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in internal and executive communications.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience thinking, planning, and executing multiple projects simultaneously in an organized fashion.
  • Experience leading communication strategy within a medium-to-large sized organization, writing for, and working directly with Vice President or other Executives.
  • Experience writing or editing video graphics or other multimedia.
  • Experience building and executing programs and managing them to scale.
  • Ability to be a team player who can meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent project management, attention to detail, and verbal/written communication skills.
