Media and Communications Coordinator

The Coordinator plays a key role in increasing visibility for our growing law firm that is a national leader in workplace law and top-rated for its innovation and commitment to diversity. The Coordinator will be responsible for media relations activities to increase the firm’s name recognition and help position attorneys as thought leaders nationally and in 20+ markets, including:

  • Creating and distributing press releases announcing firm news
  • Maintaining editorial calendars and media contact lists
  • Monitoring media coverage of firm, conducting competitive analyses, and research on emerging trends/stories
  • Conducting proactive media outreach to secure positive placements (quotes and bylined pieces by attorneys) in targeted national publications, industry trades, legal, and local press
  • Facilitating bylined articles with attorneys (scheduling, liaison with editors, proofreading, etc.)
  • Preparing attorneys for interviews, including creating talking points and sample reporter questions
  • Ensuring that all published copy adheres to firm style guidelines

The Coordinator will also support marketing and business development activities including:

  • Managing social media content on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram
  • Tracking and preparing survey and award submissions
  • Proposing and implementing new PR campaigns and programs such as surveys or studies to build brand
  • Assisting with internal/external messaging on key firm initiatives and coordinating with external PR firm if needs arise
  • Working with marketing events team to leverage PR opportunities in connection with conferences and other speaking opportunities
  • Formatting and distributing client eblasts and legal news bulletins
  • Maintaining stock photo library
  • Supporting the marketing team on other special projects and assignments as needed


  • Bachelor’s degree in PR, communications, or journalism
  • Three to four years’ communications experience in a PR firm, law firm, or professional services
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Understanding of style guidelines and how to copyedit and proofread one’s own and others’ work with exceptional attention to detail
  • Be a flexible team player with a can-do approach, ability and willingness to learn new skills, and ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines; exercise sound judgment
  • Have strong ability to interact with lawyers, firm leadership, media, and other busy professionals
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion

The Media and Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Associate Director of Brand Management and Chief Marketing Officer and join a team of skilled marketing professionals in a collegial, collaborative environment.
