Science/General Assignment Writer

The primary role of this position is to write compelling editorial content that tells the story of the University of Georgia’s academic, scientific and research achievements, as well as the institution’s overall impact. This individual will work to develop written content – in interesting and engaging ways – that synthesizes, translates, and clearly explains research into language that is understandable to lay audiences. Additionally, the individual will also develop and write content as determined for publications and platforms managed by the Division, including, but not limited to, Georgia Magazine.

The content will be used across print and digital platforms, including print, social media, web, email newsletters, and other communications materials. The writer should be focused on creating the best content for a platform’s audience and will be tasked with thinking creatively about new and innovative ways to tell the university’s story.

The writer will collaborate with UGA Marketing & Communications staff, as well as stakeholders from other schools and colleges, to develop original news, features, and other compelling stories. In addition to strong writing, this candidate will manage editorial projects that include working with stakeholders to identify stories, create assignments for visuals, write content, and manage publication of these stories.
