PRSA Georgia Recognizes December Chapter Champion Lauren PowersLauren Powers is the recipient of the December 2017 Chapter Champion Award for her dedicated volunteer work with PRSA Georgia. She is the co-chair of the Phoenix Awards Committee for the second year, and has served on the committee since 2016. In this role, she helps facilitate the chapter’s annual awards process by collecting and organizing the awards for judging, and managing the chapter’s reciprocal agreement to judge the corresponding chapter’s award entries. In addition, she volunteered to take on the PowerPoint for this year’s awards celebration. Lauren has been a member of PRSA Georgia since 2011.

“I decided to become involved with the Georgia Chapter because of the many doors it opens both professionally and personally,” she says. “Through PRSA Georgia I have made invaluable industry connections, enhanced my professional skills, and gained the confidence to pursue opportunities outside of my comfort zone. To me, there is no better professional organization.”

Lauren serves as the Senior Marketing Manager for the Emory University Department of Medicine, the largest department at Emory with more than 600 faculty members who are renowned leaders in research, education and patient care. She manages all internal and external communications and marketing efforts on behalf of the department’s faculty, staff, residents, and fellows. Lauren has a passion for higher education, previously serving as the Communications and Special Events Manager for the Emory University Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. Prior to her roles at Emory, she worked in communications and marketing for the Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta Affiliate. Lauren earned her bachelor’s in mass communication from Louisiana State University.
